Linda Kay & Kay College Consulting has been a terrific service for us and well worth the expense. As you may guess, there needs to be a “match” between your child and the consultant. In our case, the match was perfect. Why? Because Linda is resourceful, she understands the needs and listens well and does everything to help meet the success of the child. She is available for 1:1s; she cares and is proud of the quality of her work, she is a great teacher, advisor and supporter, culminating in her ability to guide my daughter in such a way that she was accepted to all the colleges she applied to, and waitlisted at the one that was a real reach. The process, although very stressful, was made significantly easier due to Linda’s excellent attention to details, a robust schedule and an ability to excite my daughter and make the process almost enjoyable. We highly recommend Linda and her services to anyone that really wants to do well and achieve their ambitions.
Thank you for all of your help. From the initial meeting to refining the college list to essay review and final application decision you took the time and effort to get to know and understand my child. As a parent I found your suggestions helped us evaluate options and your referrals to students and alumni really provided key information. When evaluating essays your comments were to the point, offering targeted editing while always respecting the voice of the writer. Your opinion was one we truly valued as it was truly based on the individual.
We knew that the college application process was going to be daunting. Usually in these situations, I am always playing catch up and this was too important not to get professional assistance. I interviewed Linda and immediately knew that she was the right person. Not only was her knowledge of various colleges and their cultures truly amazing, but more importantly, I had the feeling that Linda took her work – “my son” – seriously and would try hard to match my son’s abilities to the right selection of colleges. And it was the right decision. Linda worked with my son, kept us informed at all times, made valuable suggestions and gave sound advice. For the first time, I felt that I was ahead of the curve and I knew that my son was with the right advisor. End result, my son was accepted to his first choice and it was a good fit. Take the advice from a hands on parent: Linda is a warm and caring professional who will help your child.
We can’t thank you enough for all of your hard work and support during the college process. It was truly a team effort and we could not have done it without you!! Your patience, caring, knowledge and support were so appreciated!
Linda is an outstanding resource for support and guidance thru the college search process for all kinds of students. We put her to work for both of our students, who had very different requirements. Our son has high functioning autism. After high school he was ready to start college and live away from home, but needed specialized support to develop skills that would enable him to become fully independent. Linda is very knowledgeable in this area, and showed us a range of options that allowed us to compare and find the right fit. Our daughter is very talented academically. For her we needed to hone in on a selection of schools that would be a good match for her talents and interests. With Linda’s help we found great places for both of our students to land. She guided us thru every step of the process, and brought her considerable firsthand knowledge to bear to help sort thru mountains of information. Linda is thorough, detailed, organized, and a pleasure to work with it. Five stars out of five, A+, absolutely the best!
During the middle of my daughter’s junior year everyone around us was feverishly researching and visiting colleges. We had done nothing. Our college search began with a trip to Barnes and Noble where there was a mountain of college reference books. After choosing one that weighed more than us combined, we headed home. The book was paralyzing and my daughter and I had already begun arguing. It was then that I decided to find a college consultant.
We met Linda Kay and it was love at first sight! My daughter actually looked forward to her visits. Linda spent a great deal of time getting to know our daughter in an effort to ascertain the attributes she might desire in a college. We were then presented with a highly organized binder containing a spreadsheet of school choices along with detailed information about each institution. Linda was an invaluable partner during this process. She not only researched and recommended colleges and critiqued my daughter’s college essays, she also helped our daughter organize her activities list, coached her for admissions interviews, gave helpful advice about standardized tests, and so much more.
There is a happy ending to this story. My daughter applied Early Decision to her first choice college and was accepted, She is over the moon with joy and can’t stop smiling. We could not have done this without Linda! Not only was she an advisor and confidant for my daughter, but a friend and unofficial therapist for my husband and me. Perhaps the best result was that we avoided the constant arguments over applications. Instead we were able to enjoy our time with our child. It was Linda who kept her on schedule and on task and greatly minimized the stress associated with applying to college. Linda is a find and when it is time to begin this journey with our second child,we will not go to Barnes and Noble, we will call Linda!
Being that this was my oldest child and my first time dealing with college applications, this was a daunting experience for me. I dreaded the constant flow of papers and felt confused about how to go about completing the process from beginning to end. Linda helped make this experience one of joy rather than one of stress. In fact, by October 18th we were informed that my daughter had gotten into one of her top choice schools and we were able to share the joy with Linda as we felt that she played a huge role in this success.
My husband and I would like to thank you for all of the help you provided to us throughout the college application process. You made a potentially stressful process easy. Your knowledge, resourcefulness and diligence provided us with all of the information necessary to make informed decisions regarding which schools would be appropriate for our daughter.
You patiently guided her through the drafting of each essay and the completion of each college application. Being that both my husband and I work full time, this would have been an insurmountable task for us. Your assistance in organizing us to make sure that we instructed the high school to submit the necessary tests and documentation requested by each college was tremendous. No matter what time of day or night we sent you an e-mail, it was answered immediately. Your dedication to your work is evidenced by the end results-the timely submission of the thorough and completed applications.
Again, we appreciate the time, patience and care you provided to us and would be happy to recommend your services to others.
We can’t thank Linda enough for the support and guidance she provided as our son’s college guidance counselor. She assisted our son from his sophomore through senior years meeting with him on occasion initially and increasing her visits as necessary when the demands became greater.
Linda was encouraging, always praising our son for his achievements and hard work while gently prompting him to complete the necessary tasks in a timely and efficient manner. She was generous with her time, knowledgeable and caring, wise, and always very professional. Having Linda there to assist was a gift that helped our family navigate so much more easily through the crazy and overwhelming world of college applications.
Kay College Consulting provides an array of services and supports your child throughout the application process.
Working with Linda Kay was one of the best decisions I made during my college process. Junior and senior year were very stressful for me and I had a lot on my plate. On top of schoolwork, I had to start worrying about colleges and college applications. I did not even know where I wanted to go! That is why I was so thankful for Linda’s help. She not only took the time to work with me on all of the college application tasks, but also help me search for schools and find what best suited me. Thanks to Linda, all of my friends were jealous because I had finished all of my college essays before school started!! Linda Kay made the college process seem easy and not as scary as everyone had been saying. If I could do it again, I would not do it any other way!!
I wanted to write you and thank you for all of your help and encouragement. I am so excited about my college opportunities and know that you were such a big part of the process. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for all the help during my college search. It was great to have someone guide me along the tougher parts and help me pick the perfect college. I appreciate all the editing, reading, and talking!
Thank you so much for everything you did to aid me in my college search! I really really appreciated all the help and support. I will leave home knowing I am choosing the perfect fit for me!
These past few months have been a breeze with you by my side, helping me with all my college applications and essays. I do not think I would have been able to complete all of what we achieved by myself. I am very grateful to have you be my mentor in my precollege experience. You gathered so much information that I feel like you did most of the work! But all in all, really helping me find the perfect college was both of our goals. In the near future, when I get that letter in my mailbox, I will be thinking of you, and all that you’ve done. Thank you so much for all your help.
The first one we picked was Pratt Institute, an art school in Brooklyn. My mother and I agreed that it could be a real contender. To get a better feel for the school I attended their pre-college program. I completed many portfolio reviews and decided I wanted to apply early action in order skip applying to other schools, if I was accepted. Some of the reviewers had suggested I wait and apply regular decision. I was very worried about the whole situation, but Linda always knew how to calm me down. In late December I was accepted to Pratt with a scholarship. I decided to only apply to one more school, Carnegie Mellon. I considered it a real reach and was not expecting to get in, but recently I found out I had been accepted. I am still waiting on my financial aid package.
Linda took the time to look into specific schools for me. She may not have known very much about art schools before me, but now she’s has her facts down pat. The best thing she did for me was calm me down. I’m normally an anxious, nervous type of person, so one can only imagine how I felt when applying to college. Linda always gave me the best suggestions and continued to tell me that eventually this process would be over.
Now, I have a month to decide which school I will attend. I thought things were stressful before I got accepted; what little I knew then. Even now, Linda is still leading me through the twists and turns. I have decided to visit each school again and hopefully from there I will come to a conclusion. Without Linda I never would be where I am today.
My family met Linda while my brother was looking for schools. Midway through my Junior year, I realized that I would need her help as well. For our first few meetings, Linda took the time to get to know me and understand what I wanted in a school. She then gave me a list with more schools and information than I could have found on my own. Linda helped me organize my schedule for testing, applications, etc., and prepared me for visits and interviews. Linda kept me on track through the entire application process. I could not have done it without her, and cannot recommend her enough.
Linda Kay was the most valuable asset to me throughout the entire college process. Not only is she a kind and patient person, she is also extremely knowledgeable about many aspects of higher education. Since Linda has personally visited colleges across the nation, she is familiar with numerous campuses, activities, courses, and overall student life at many colleges. Therefore, Linda has an acute ability to match her students with the colleges they are researching. Kay College Consulting offers personalized, helpful service; I would recommend Linda to any prospective student.
I could not have picked a better college consultant than Linda. She was extremely supportive and such a great mentor. Usually, investing time in college applications is very mundane, but with Linda it was an enjoyable experience. She is great to work with, especially her bubbly personality, support, and great advice and knowledge. I appreciate everything she has done for me, because I can honestly say that I would not have been able to do it without her!
Linda helped me prepare and organize all the materials I needed for my applications long before I was due to apply. I had all my applications ready for early action, which saved me from the rushed, stressed feelings most of my friends experienced. I got into the first school I heard from which happened to be one of my top choices!
